Farmers forum

This year to freshen things up, especially after our big milestone last year was our 40th year of running our village open day, we are hosting our very first ‘Farm-to-Fork’ mini-festival.

Our village is a lively place at the of best times, but during the summer harvest the lanes are busy with grain trailers, tractors and combine harvesters, day and night. It seems obvious that up and down the land our cereal and livestock farmers are providing us food, but their role in our communities goes a lot further than that, and this year our Farmers forum will give them an opportunity to explain through interactive talks, demonstrations, and presentations what other important works they are performing during the year.

Topics being covered will include; Our food security, countryside management, environmentally friendly farming, rural crime problems and prevention, plus a Farmers Question Time (FQT) where you can ask any questions and drive what we hope will be a lively debate!

Alongside the farming discussion and content, the festival field will feature food vendors using locally sourced food, and following on into the evening live music on the main stage.

Finally, a huge thanks to the local farming community for helping to organise and provide equipment and their valuable time for our event!

Contributing farming groups and organisations include North-Herts Farmers, Bluegates Farms, WJ Kendall & Sons, and Herts Agricultural Society.

Giulia, Co-Founder

Flour 21 started in 2020 from a deep love of baking, sourdough and especially Roman pizza. It’s the unsung hero of Italian pizza—light, crisp, full of character, and absolutely not just a sandwich. With over a decade of experience as a chef, our founder brings real knowledge and passion to everything we make. We keep things simple, seasonal and full of flavour. Our ingredients are fresh and locally sourced from around Hertfordshire: flour from Shipton Mill, meat from Meadows Farm, fruit and veg from Webb's of Hitchin, and high-quality Italian staples like mozzarella, cured meats, tomatoes and olive oil from Salvo. Our menu is small on purpose. It helps us keep the quality high and the waste low. You'll always find at least one vegan option, one vegetarian and one with meat. Prices range from £3.50 to £9 depending on ingredients and fillings. At Flour 21, we believe good food brings people together. Whether you're stopping by for a quick takeaway or hanging around for a chat, we’re using Italian techniques and tradition to transform your day. We can't wait to feed you!

At BB Pizza, we’re not just serving pizza , we’re crafting unforgettable food experiences. We're equally passionate about supporting local producers. Our toppings include: Fresh meats from Crumps of Ashwell, our trusted local butcher Seasonal produce from our local farm shop, chosen for its freshness and quality. As proud multi-award winners, including Winner of the 2025 Muddy Stilettos Award, SME Business Elite Awards for the Best Mobile Artisan Pizzeria 2025,The Stones Local Food Hero Award 2024 , we’ve been recognised for our dedication to quality, creativity, and outstanding service. About Us- Meet Eve and Karim – the passionate duo behind BB Pizza. We’re a pair of pizza lovers with over 20 years of experience in the food and catering industry. Our journey began in 2017 when Karim built an outdoor pizza oven in our garden, where we hosted pizza parties for friends and family. The feedback was incredible , “These pizzas are amazing, you should start a business!” Encouraged by their support (and our love for pizza), we decided to take the plunge. In November 2020, we bought a vintage horse box and began converting it into a fully equipped mobile pizzeria. By June 2021, BB Pizza was born. We poured our hearts into every detail and soon left our full-time jobs to focus on the business we love. Today, we run popular pub pop-ups across North Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and cater for weddings, private parties, corporate events, and more across surrounding counties. Five years later, we took the next exciting step in our journey, replacing our beloved horse trailer with a brand new red Airstream trailer, giving us an even more striking setup while we continue to serve the same incredible pizzas our customers love. Every pizza is made with passion, top-quality local ingredients, and a commitment to flavour. Whether it’s your big day or a relaxed night at the pub, BB Pizza brings delicious artisan pizza wherever you need it.

Here is Laura's story in her own words "If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be running one successful business, I’d have laughed. And yet, here I am, building three. Last year was a turning point. I flipped my life on its head and started showing up for me. After years of pouring into everyone else’s cup, I finally decided it was time to pour into my own — for the sake of my happiness, my future, and most of all, my babies. Now I wake up genuinely excited about the businesses I’ve created — whether it’s my gorgeous little @ginboxuk_ or my travel business that’s changed everything for us. 💛 After being made to feel small for so long, I’m finally holding my head high — because the future is looking so bright" ✨
